Our mission is to create ensemble-driven pieces of theater that defy expectations of how stories can be told in the theater; to maintain a consistent core ensemble which collaborates regularly with an ever-expanding community of artists; to create new plays that are relevant beyond traditional theater audiences.
We create with our unique ensemble devising process, asking artists to step outside individual, traditional roles in order to integrate different styles, opinions, emotions, backgrounds and philosophies into risky, humorous, and heartfelt new plays.
Boo Killebrew is a playwright, actress and co-founder of CollaborationTown. She is a member of the 2013 Emerging Writers Group at The Public, a recipient of the 2013 NYFA fellowship for playwriting, a member of terraNova's Groundbreakers, and an Affiliated Artist and Kitchen Cabinet Member with New Georges. Her plays include ROMANCE NOVELS FOR DUMMIES, DAYS LIKE DIAMONDS; THE PLAY ABOUT MY DAD (nominated for The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize), THE MOMENTUM (NYC Fringe Festival Excellence Award for Overall Production of a Play; GLAAD Media Award Nominee). Her work has been presented at The Roundabout Theatre, The Public Theater, New Georges, Clubbed Thumb, The Huntington Theatre Co., 59e59 Theatres, The New Ohio, and Boston Playwright's Theatre. Boo can be seen on the popular webseries WHATEVER THIS IS (USA Today, The Guardian, Indiewire Best of 2013). Boo has been an Edward F. Albee Foundation Fellow, an Artist in Residence at NYFA, Robert Wilson's Watermill Center, and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Boo has received two New York Innovative Theater Awards for acting and has been nominated multiple times for both playwriting and acting. She is the recipient of two Fringe Excellence Awards and The Bette Davis Foundation Award. Boo is a teaching artist with The Roundabout Theatre Company. Training: Boston University.
GEO DECAS O'DONNELL is a playwright, performer and theatre-maker. He has co-run CollaborationTown since founding it in 2003. His plays include The Deepest Play Ever: The Catharsis of Pathos, From Skull To Ghost and On the Formidable Ambiguity of the Foreseeable Future, We Rise. He also creates musicals with composer Nicholas Williams, including Mutant Water Babies, a radical faerie inspired, ritualistic retelling of The Bakkhai (workshop: Drexel University, 2017). He currently teaches theatre and Playwriting at the Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia.
Select awards and residencies include: New York Fringe Excellence Award for Outstanding Playwriting for The Deepest Play Ever: The Catharsis of Pathos, 2006; New York Fringe Excellence Award for Outstanding Production for The Momentum, 2010 (developed at Robert Wilson’s Watermill Center and through a LMCC Swing Space Grant); CTown was one of the first performance groups to receive an LMCC WorkSpace grant, 2013, as well as inaugural recipients of the Archive Alliance Residency at the New Ohio and IRT Theatres. CTown recently completed a residency with The New Victory LabWorks developing Riddle of the Trilobites. CTown was awarded an Otto Rene Castillo Award for Political Theatre. In 2017, he was awarded a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) Process Space grant for From Skull To Ghost. Training: Boston University’s School of Theatre Arts, BFA. He is married to a great guy named Sean.
Jordan Seavey is Co-Artistic Director of NYC theatre company CollaborationTown, a member of the 2009 Emerging Writer’s Group at The Public Theater, and a Usual Suspect at the New York Theatre Workshop. With CTown, he’s presently the inaugural recipient of the 2-year Archive Alliance Residency at The New Ohio Theatre and IRT Theater developing their newest devised piece, Eternal Progress and the Modern Reports (formerly titled Help Me to Make It), being produced as part of the New Ohio’s 2014 season. He is currently working on Who’s Afraid of George C. Wolfe?, a meditation on marriage equality and Edward Albee’s most famous, similarly-titled play. His other plays include Listening for Our Murderer, The Third Thing, The Funny Pain, The Truth Will Out, Children at Play, 6969 and This is a Newspaper. Plays co-created with CTown include Family Play (1979 to Present), Help Me to Make It, The Momentum, (2012 GLAAD Media Award nomination), The Deepest Play Ever: The Catharsis of Pathos (text by Geoffrey Decas O’Donnell), The Play About My Dad (text by Boo Killebrew), Let’s Go, Townville, They’re Just Like Us (text by Boo Killebrew), The Astronomer’s Triangle and The Trading Floor. LEE SUNDAY EVANS is an Obie Award winning Director + Choreographer. Credits include: Wellesley Girl by Brendan Pelsue (Humana), D Deb Debbie Deborah by Jerry Lieblich (Clubbed Thumb), A Beautiful Day in November on the Banks... by Kate Benson (Obie Award – New Georges/Women’s Project), The Play About My Dad by Boo Killebrew (59E59), God’s Ear by Jenny Schwartz (Juilliard), Family Play (1979 to Present) by CollaborationTown, The Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht with original music by Nicholas C. Williams. She was recently a Resident Artist at Baryshnikov Arts Center, participated in the Sundance Theater Lab, and has developed work at The Alley Theater, Juilliard, Robert Wilson's Watermill Center, The New Ohio, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Brooklyn Arts Exchange among others. As the resident director for CollaborationTown she creates ensemble-devised works; in this capacity, she is currently under commission from LCT3. TJ WITHAM is a co-founder and co-artistic director of CollaborationTown (CTown). With CTown, he has co-created and/or performed in HELP ME TO MAKE IT, THE PLAY ABOUT MY DAD, THE MOMENTUM, LET'S GO, TOWNVILLE, 6969, THE DEEPEST PLAY EVER: THE CATHARSIS OF PATHOS, THEY'RE JUST LIKE US, THE ASTRONOMER'S TRIANGLE, and THIS IS A NEWSPAPER. Residencies include Robert Wilson's Watermill Center and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Continuing a tour of the New York City nonprofit arts community, he is currently the Director of Communications for the Times Square Alliance having come from Robert Wilson’s Watermill Center as the Director of Programs and Communications. Prior legs of the tour include work with the New York Foundation for the Arts, The Alliance of Resident Theaters/New York, and Roundabout Theater Company. BFA, Boston University.
